I’ve been running my personal and professional blog (itamaro.com) for a couple of years now. Today, I am thrilled to announce that I am relaunching the blog under new design and domain! It also happens to be my 30th birthday, so, whoop-dee-do.
I’d like to take a moment in this post to explain the move, and shortly describe my agenda for the new site.
My blog at itamaro.com was a first attempt at blogging for me. As such, it was pretty amateur, with seldom and irregular posting regimen, and project-centric style that was difficult to maintain. I didn’t know anything about writing, blogging, content management and platforms, hosting services, building a community and engaging with it, etc. I didn’t know what I wanted to achieve from running my own blog – but I wanted to explore it anyway. After experimenting and learning, I decided it was time to restart, employing a more methodical approach.
My objectives
So, what are my objectives from my own personal and professional site?
- Have some control over my online presence (my “brand”).
- Share knowledge, experience, and insights with a community of people who share my interests – and get feedback and input from that community.
- Serve as an online portfolio.
- Motivate myself to advance my personal projects and develop my skills continuously.
- Generate passive income (want to help? why not buy me some coffee? ๐ ).
How do I intend to pursue these objectives?
- Attempt to write regularly, aiming for at least one post of original content per week.
- Expand the things I post about – adding short-form posts on topics of interest. Repost content I found interesting from other sources.
- Work on one “side project” at a time, posting regular progress updates as I go along (and not only long posts following completed milestones).
- Complement the site with social media activity, including Twitter, Google+ page and community, Facebook page, GitHub organization, etc., striving for meaningful community engagement and interaction.

Thatโs it. Iโm very excited about my new site. I hope it will work out as I vision it ๐
