It’s My Birthday, And I’ll Launch If I Want To

I’ve been running my personal and professional blog (itamaro.com) for a couple of years now. Today, I am thrilled to announce that I am relaunching the blog under new design and domain! It also happens to be my 30th birthday, so, whoop-dee-do.

I’d like to take a moment in this post to explain the move, and shortly describe my agenda for the new site.

My blog at itamaro.com was a first attempt at blogging for me. As such, it was pretty amateur, with seldom and irregular posting regimen, and project-centric style that was difficult to maintain. I didn’t know anything about writing, blogging, content management and platforms, hosting services, building a community and engaging with it, etc. I didn’t know what I wanted to achieve from running my own blog – but I wanted to explore it anyway. After experimenting and learning, I decided it was time to restart, employing a more methodical approach.

My objectives

So, what are my objectives from my own personal and professional site?

  1. Have some control over my online presence (my “brand”).
  2. Share knowledge, experience, and insights with a community of people who share my interests – and get feedback and input from that community.
  3. Serve as an online portfolio.
  4. Motivate myself to advance my personal projects and develop my skills continuously.
  5. Generate passive income (want to help? why not buy me some coffee? ๐Ÿ™‚ ).

How do I intend to pursue these objectives?

  1. Attempt to write regularly, aiming for at least one post of original content per week.
  2. Expand the things I post about – adding short-form posts on topics of interest. Repost content I found interesting from other sources.
  3. Work on one “side project” at a time, posting regular progress updates as I go along (and not only long posts following completed milestones).
  4. Complement the site with social media activity, including Twitter, Google+ page and community, Facebook page, GitHub organization, etc., striving for meaningful community engagement and interaction.

Take a look at the about page for more.

Thatโ€™s it. Iโ€™m very excited about my new site. I hope it will work out as I vision it ๐Ÿ™‚
